Empowering Experienced Professionals for Successful Career Transitions
When You're the Imposter
You just started your new position. It’s a nice increase in pay and responsibility, and the work is similar to what you’ve done before so you’re feeling good. After a few days, you get a project assigned that you’ve done many times before. But this time, you’re expected to deliver it in half the time. No matter, after all, you are at a higher level of responsibility now, so you just need to rise to the occasion.
Then you attend the staff meeting where you’re asked to report on something you don’t know much about. You hesitantly tell them you’ll need more time to get the information needed. On top of that, you receive several other assignments. Two of them you’ve only assisted on before and another where it’s up to you to assemble the team. Any one of these alone would be a challenge, but they’re all due in the same time period.
Back at your desk, you realize you’re in over your head. You don’t know what you’re doing, your career is ruined, and it’s only a matter of time before they discover that you’re an imposter.
Join us Monday night as Ron Moore, an experienced imposter, discusses how to turn situations where you’re in over your head into opportunities for growth and become a valuable contributor to your organization’s mission.
