About the Speaker
Jon is a Career Ownership Coach, and his mission is to help people assess their career possibilities and dreams. He specializes in the exploration of self-sufficiency because there are alternatives to working for someone and creating success for someone else. He wants people to be able to make informed choices about their career future based on all the options that they have! I have been a lifelong believer in the classic “American dream”; you work hard, put in the hours, stick to the plan and everything will work out.
Jon has a legal and business background and one of the core principles that he came to learn and appreciate is an appreciation of the incredible variety of people in the world. Jon’s legal career as a financial services lawyer and general counsel for financial services firms in Japan and Hong Kong has been about bringing people and products or services together. For 24 years, Jon was the Japan general counsel for one of the Fortune 50 companies and returned to the US in 2022.
As Jon’s career progressed, he saw more and more people he knew and respected facing setbacks; people hitting plateaus or being let go despite all the effort, time, and hard work they had invested for their employer. Jon also began feeling like an actor in his own career being directed by circumstances and other people.
