Do Something Everyday that Scares You: Exploring Your Options

1. Find a job

2. Start a business

3. Buy a business

4. Work for a contractor

Eleanor Roosevelt talked about courage in the face of fear. “You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

My Story: In 2001, I accepted a buyout from the company that I began working for at age 17. I moved to Washington, DC on September 22, 2001. I had planned to find a job in a city that I loved and understood that it might take 12-18 months to find a great job. In the meantime, I created an image consultancy (more about that on Dec 14). With my image consulting credentials, I started a business that put food on my table for 15 years. But the work was not consistent, so I also worked for a small business as a subcontractor on a federal contract. Over time, a friend and I started a consulting firm that now employs three independent contractors.

Come to the workshop prepared to answer this question: What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
