Statement of Support: 

As an organization that empowers experienced professionals, managers, and executives for successful career transitions, 40Plus of Greater Washington serves professionals of all races and ethnicities. We stand firm in our support of all people who have been affected by the horrendous racist and violent acts in our country.

We condemn the police brutality that led to the tragic and needless death of George Floyd, along with others before him such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Eric Garner. We also condemn the violence, bigotry and systemic racism that has occurred during the past 400 years, particularly against black men and women in our nation. Furthermore, we stand firmly against discrimination of any kind including age discrimination, which frustrates many of our members during their search for new employment.

We offer our condolences to the family of George Floyd, his friends and loved ones. As a way to honor his memory, we stand ready to work with other agencies and community-based organizations, along with the community at large, to end injustice in all its forms against the oppressed and all persons of color.

What you will learn at the session:
Surveys indicate that 56% of people whould prefer to be self employed, yet, only 5% do. We will be reviewing questions to ask yourself to determine whether self sufficiency is for you, as well as discussing the differing options, allowing time for questions. Additionally, you will receive worksheets to help you focus on your strengths and goals as you move forward in uncovering your most fulfilling career!
 

About The Speaker

Stephanie Lewis:

Stephanie Lewis spent 29 years in Corporate America, working for one of the top 3 Pharmaceutical companies. Stephanie has, in her role as a Regional Sales Director to the Director of Sales Training and Employee Development, hired, trained and developed scores of people. Stephanie voluntarily left Corporate America to be able to help more people who would like her assistance in exploring career opportunities. She hasn't looked back once!!

  1. Leave the Dupont Circle Metro Station by the 19th Street SOUTH exit.
  2. At the top of the escalator (street level), turn 180 degrees, and walk a short distance towards Dupont Circle.
  3. Turn right and walk counter-clockwise around the outside of the Circle, past Connecticut and Massachusetts Avenues.
  4. At P Street, turn right . Proceed on P Street past 18th Street.
  5. 40Plus is near the end of the block on the right side, at 1718 P Street, in the Webster House apartment building.
