Using the same skills, a journalists uses to find sources, this session will look at how to use personal and professional relationships to fuel your job search. We’ll discuss how to use LinkedIn, networking events, professional associations and volunteering to grow your contacts across industries.

During this session, participants will interactively discuss:

  • How to network.
  • How to grow your network.
  • How to find recruiters.

About the Speaker:

Suzanne Struglinski is an editor and communications specialist. She previously worked at the National Press Club as the director of membership engagement where she established relationships with journalists and public relations professionals. She also is a former press secretary for the Natural Resources Defense Council and a business development writer at Baker & McKenzie, a global law firm.

Suzanne previously worked as the Washington bureau chief for the Deseret News, the Washington correspondent for the Las Vegas Sun and a reporter at E&E Publishing's Greenwire. She edited and managed four editions of the Almanac of the Unelected, a reference book that profiled congressional committee staff members.

Struglinski served as a two-term president of the Regional Reporters Association and was a National Press Foundation Paul Miller fellow. A Chicago native, Struglinski is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia.


Plan to join us after the meeting for networking. Admission is free.  Many of us carry our conversations to lunch at one of the nearby eateries.

Attire is business casual and we ask all Monday Speaker attendees to contribute to the professional standards and objectives of this important networking meeting.
