Join us for this innovative event, where we will use Open Space Technology to create the program agenda in real time.
Bring your ideas, your questions, and your resources to this unscripted conversation with your colleagues.
Open Space Technology is an approach to purpose-driven leadership, including a way for hosting meetings, conflict minded peacebuilding,conferences, corporate-style retreats, symposiums, and community summit events, focused on a specific and important purpose or task — but beginning without any formal agenda, beyond the overall purpose or theme. Open Space is the only process that focuses on expanding time and space for the force of self-organization to do its thing. Although one can't predict specific outcomes, it's always highly productive for whatever issue people want to attend to.
The theme of the 40Plus Open Space will be Your Questions about Career Transition, and everyone attending will have the opportunity to discuss any aspect of this theme that they would like to raise with other participants.
We'll begin with a brief overview of the Open Space process and move right away to ask attendees to identify their topics of interest. This might include something they are struggling with, a challenge they are facing, or a positive experience or resource they would like to share.
Open Space is built on five principles and one law:
Principles:
1. Whoever comes is the right people
2. Whenever it starts is the right time
3. Wherever it is, is the right place
4. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have, be prepared to be surprised!
5. When it's over, it's over
Law of Mobility:
If at any time during our time together you find yourself in any situation where you are neither learning nor contributing, use your two feet, go someplace else.
Everyone will have the chance to discuss three topics during this Open Space event, and we will attempt to capture the key notes and ideas raised in each conversation to share with the group.
While there's no preset agenda for Open Space, here is the proposed schedule:
10:00 - 10:15 Opening Circle and Agenda Topics Identified
10:15 - 10:45 Conversations Round 1
10:45 - 11:15 Conversations Round 2
11:15 - 11:45 Conversations Round 3
11:45 - 12:00 Closing Circle
