Biography


Dr. McDonald is an independent management consultant based in Alexandria Virginia. He consults on using information technology to help people manage, collaborate, innovate, and communicate. His experience includes consulting company management, research on scientific and technical communications, communication metrics, strategic planning, and managing software, database development, and system integration projects. Since 2005 his interests have included planning, managing, and measuring the use of social media, social networking, and collaboration technologies. His clients have included AIG, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Federal Acquisition Innovation & Reform (FAIR) Institute, Ford Motor Company, GE Appliances, GE Medical Systems, Jive Software, Keyspan Energy, Kraft Foods, National Academy of Engineering, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Education, National Library of Medicine, Nisource Energy, PACCAR, Sun Microsystems, U.S. Copyright Office, U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Whirlpool, and World Bank Group.
