Empowering Experienced Professionals for Successful Career Transitions

Statement of Support:

As an organization that empowers experienced professionals, managers, and executives for successful career transitions, 40Plus of Greater Washington serves professionals of all races and ethnicities. We stand firm in our support of all people who have been affected by the horrendous racist and violent acts in our country.

We condemn the police brutality that led to the tragic and needless death of George Floyd, along with others before him such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Eric Garner. We also condemn the violence, bigotry and systemic racism that has occurred during the past 400 years, particularly against black men and women in our nation. Furthermore, we stand firmly against discrimination of any kind including age discrimination, which frustrates many of our members during their search for new employment.

We offer our condolences to the family of George Floyd, his friends and loved ones. As a way to honor his memory, we stand ready to work with other agencies and community-based organizations, along with the community at large, to end injustice in all its forms against the oppressed and all persons of color.

Annette Y. Harris, MBA
President & Founder, ShowUp!

What started nearly 20 years ago as a drive to climb the  corporate ladder; managing global marketing programs and   leading teams for multi-million dollar proposals for major   corporations like Deloitte & Touché, MCI WorldCom and   Verizon (formerly Bell Atlantic), transformed into a passion to   help high potential professionals get noticed and get ahead. In   2007 Annette founded and launched Harris ImageWorks, LLC.

Annette re-branded the company under the new name of   ShowUp, LLC in 2013. ShowUp! provides a one-stop shop for   all aspects of personal brand development from identifying and   defining talents, strengths and unique attributes; and then   activating a personal brand visibility campaign – to elevating   executive presence in terms of professional dress,   communication, and business etiquette skills.

Annette earned her undergraduate degree in business from James Madison University, her Master of   Business Administration (MBA) from George Mason University, and was later certified by the leading   accreditation organizations in her field, the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) and   the Protocol School of Washington (PSOW). Annette is also certified as a 360Reach Personal Brand   and Social Brand Analyst by Personal Branding Guru, William Arruda. Annette studied under famed   stylist Stacy London (of TLC’s hit television show What Not to Wear) and was hand-selected to join   her acclaimed Style for Hire network.
