This presentation will discuss what has absolute impact on you obtaining that next job. It will explore the power we have to initiate the FIRST LAW and why so many job seekers are initially derailing their chances of getting that next job sooner. Examples of successful job seekers who obtained that next job within a reasonable time period, with a definite plan to achieve their goals will be discussed. This will be an interactive session so that the audience can discuss their journeys and what has gone well and what has not.

Mr. Thomas is an accomplished business executive with extensive years of successful experience at varied and notable companies and organizations. He has been requested on many occasions to be a guest panelist and keynote speaker on numerous human capital and career coaching topics. In addition, he has been a requested guest on many radio shows. He has been highly active providing career coaching to clients and conducting workshops and presentations to working professionals and professionals in transition


He is currently the President and Founder of J. E. Thomas & Associates, a Career Coaching and HR Consulting firm. His recent key focus has been devoted primarily to providing individual career coaching to hundreds of clients in transition as well as working professionals wanting guidance in achieving their career goals. His Transition Road Map "secret sauce" methodology has had a positive effect on getting professionals back to work. He has written a book, Want That Job? What You Need To Know Right Now!  His firm previously focused on providing human resources consulting to small and medium size companies on issues involved with organization assessments, executive development and assessment, compensation, senior level management issues, and employee relations matters.

Mr. Thomas has served as interim SVP of Human Resources for NeuStar and INOVA Health Systems during their transition to a full time HR executive. Previously, he was the EVP, Human Resources & Administration for webMethods, Inc. In this role he provided executive level leadership to the human resources, facilities, and information technology departments worldwide.

His business experience spans diverse companies and industries. He has successfully held HR management or C-Suite level officer positions at Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin, American Red Cross-National Headquarters, LCI International, and 2nd Century Communications.


Mr. Thomas currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Northern Virginia Employer Advisory Committee (an Affiliate organization with the Virginia Employment Commission). He is also the President of the PTA at Providence Elementary School in Fairfax, VA.

Mr. Thomas holds BA and MA degrees from Montclair State University.
