A discussion about best practices to finding a job on Capitol Hill, on campaigns and in the political world.

Non-Profits – All jobs associated with politically or issue oriented non-profits, trade unions, think tanks, foundations, and NGOs.

Tom Manatos is currently Director of Government Affairs at the Internet Association.  Before his position at The IA, Tom was the Senior Advisor to the Chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) where Tom handled Members of Congress, Senators and elected officials for the Chair of the DNC.

Prior to his tenure at the DNC, Tom spent over 9 years with Speaker Pelosi both in the Speaker’s office and the Minority Leader’s office.  Tom was the Senior Advisor for Member Services as well as Outreach Advisor for young Americans to Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. Prior to his duties in the Member Services department, Tom was the National Trip Director and Director of Advance for Speaker Pelosi.

While still in college Tom served as acting Deputy Press Secretary for Senator Paul S. Sarbanes of Maryland and was an advance desk at the Gore/Lieberman national campaign headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tom was born and raised in the Washington, DC area in Bethesda, Maryland and attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He obtained his masters degree in government from Johns Hopkins University in the spring of 2010. He resides with his wife, Dana and their kids Andrew (2) and Alexis (6 months) in Bethesda, Maryland.

  1. Leave the Dupont Circle Metro Station by the 19th Street SOUTH exit.
  2. At the top of the escalator (street level), turn 180 degrees, and walk a short distance towards Dupont Circle.
  3. Turn right and walk counter-clockwise around the outside of the Circle, past Connecticut and Massachusetts Avenues.
  4. At P Street, turn right . Proceed on P Street past 18th Street.
  5. 40Plus is near the end of the block on the right side, at 1718 P Street, in the Webster House apartment building.
