Developing Your Magic Micro Intro.

Want to Know How to Get Employers to Remember You? Develop a Virtual Business Card That Gets Passed to Managers Who are Hiring

Speaker Website:  www.20minutesfromhome.com

A Magic Micro Intro is a short, memorable introduction that you can use with anyone, whether they are in your industry or not.  Shorter than an elevator speech, it intrigues people, so they want to know more, and provides a hook for starting a conversation. It has the effect of a virtual business card, because it is memorable and can be passed around.

BIO

Author of six books on how to find a computer job, the most recent Twenty Minutes from Home: The Best Computer Jobs in America (© 2002), Ms. Covin is a popular speaker on topics that include:

    * Developing Your Magic Micro Intro

          o Why I Have a 50-Year Plan

    * Giving Back: Networking without Thinking
    * From Laid-Off to Paid-Off – 61 Ways to Find a Job

Ms. Covin’s 25 years in the computer industry as a software engineer and database designer inspired her to interview more than a thousand Chief Information Officers, asking what they look for when they hire and what their companies offer. Her books document the results of these interviews. Top skills sought, in addition to specific technical skills, are the ability to work on teams, to manage complex projects on-time and within budget and to understand how IT advances a company’s business.

“Developing Your Magic Micro Intro” will focus on principles for developing a virtual business card, a memorable, Twitter-sized introduction that intrigues people, provides a hook for starting a conversation, and helps people remember you when they are telling potential hiring managers about you.

Ms. Covin’s introduction is: “I plan to cut cancer deaths by 10% in 10 years.”
