Five Nuggets of Life Advice from Peter Drucker
In his presentation, Bruce Rosenstein, who interviewed and wrote extensively about Peter Drucker for USA TODAY and other publications before writing his new book, will share Drucker’s secrets for leading a profoundly fulfilling life.
Bruce will focus on what you can learn from Drucker’s work and personal life example on:
* Living in more than one world, with diverse people, activities and pursuits
* Developing your core competencies
* Creating your future through what you do today
* Exercising your generosity through work with nonprofits, social entrepreneurship and mentoring
* Teaching and Learning
Bruce Rosenstein is the author of Living in More Than One World: How Peter Drucker's Wisdom Can Inspire and Transform Your Life (Berrett-Koehler, August 2009).
Bruce has studied Drucker's work for more than twenty years. He worked for USA TODAY for 21 years, until late 2008. He was the embedded librarian in the News section of the newspaper -- the first embedded librarian at the newspaper -- and for the final 12 years, also wrote about business and management books for the Money section.
Besides USA TODAY, he has written for such publications as Leader to Leader, Information Outlook, ONLINE and Library Journal. He wrote extensively about Drucker for more than a decade, for USA TODAY and elsewhere, before the publication of his book.
Bruce has also taught as a lecturer at The Catholic University of America's School of Library and Information Science in Washington, D.C., since 1996.
He has a BA from The American University, and a MSLS from The Catholic University of America's School of Library and Information Science.
Bruce also wrote a series of columns about Peter Drucker in 2001-2002 for Information Outlook, the publication of the Special Libraries Association/SLA. He has studied Drucker's work for more than twenty years.
Besides USA TODAY and Information Outlook, Bruce has written for such publications as Leader to Leader, ONLINE, Library Journal and News Library News. I am also a lecturer for The Catholic University of America's School of Library and Information Science in Washington, D.C.
Before becoming a librarian, Bruce scripted and selected the recordings for a weekly rock music radio program heard worldwide on The Voice of America, from 1974-1988. During that time period, he wrote about rock music for a number of publications, including Trouser Press, Unicorn Times, ARSC Journal and several others.
In 1980, Steve Leeds and Bruce formed an independent rock music label, Ambition Records, and released one of the first compilations of independent rock, Declaration of Independents.
