Monday Morning Speakers 2020

Monday Speakers meetings are open to the public and free of charge. You are cordially invited to attend.

Each meeting features a speaker who covers topics of interest to those who are involved in or contemplating a job search or career change. The meeting begins with a networking session at 9:45 AM. We ask everyone to be seated by 9:55 AM so that the speaker can start promptly at 10:00 AM.

No reservations are needed. Come network with 40Plus members, other guests, and the speaker. The meeting is also an opportunity for anyone who is considering joining 40Plus to see and experience our organization.

Many of us continue our networking conversations over lunch at one of the nearby restaurants. Plan to join us.

    Building Self Awareness by Taking a Leap

    Have you ever said yes to something and then immediately talked yourself out of it? What are the choices you have taken that have really helped you see yourself in new light? Building Self Awareness by taking a leap will focus on the importance of those pivotal moments in in life when saying yes opens up opportunities for development and self-discovery.

    In this session we will explore:

    • How saying a tentative yes and moving beyond your work comfort zones can benefit you in your career and job search.
    • How saying yes provides real opportunities to learn about yourself and develop self- awareness.
    • How you can build self-awareness and put it to good use when moving forward in your work life.

    ABOUT Neil Price

    Neil has 25 years of experience in public education in the UK prior to Moving to USA in July 2019. Neil was Assistant Headteacher of Sutton Grammar School one of the UK’s highest achieving public schools and on the leadership group of Sutton SCITT, a teacher training program run across a consortium of 15 local schools. Both these received an Outstanding judgement from Ofsted, the national teaching inspection agency. Neil specialised in coaching trainee and newly qualified teachers, leading staff development, conflict resolution and directing the school musical. In his time there Neil led in range of academic and pastoral roles experiencing every facet of school life. As a teacher of Drama, Neil was inspired by the social and personal growth teaching this subject offered.

    Neil is also a stand-up comic and has performed over the last 30 years. In 2006 he was runner-up in a nation-wide competition to find the UK’s best new comedian. He has performed all over the UK including the Edinburgh Fringe and since arriving in the USA has embraced the DC comedy scene.

    Neil is currently training to be a life coach and building a leadership and training business using C-Me, a self-awareness tool which explores individual and teams behavior preferences to improves understanding of yourself and others and to ensure more positive working relationships.

    Carole Stizza, ACC, SHRM-SCP, SSCS

    Carole Stizza is an ICF certified Executive Leadership Coach, Sr. Certified H.R. Professional, and a Strength Strategy Specialist who now consults, trains, and coaches executives on their way in career success.

    She holds a master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and has been responsible for supporting a military family across the U.S. for 26 years until landing in Northern Virginia.

    During the many military relocations, she reached top leadership levels in sales organizations by crafting solid recruitment and customer service methods, consulted for the National Confectioners Association’s Annual convention for over 10 years in customer service and facilitation roles, transitioned into human resource roles to maximize her impact on organizational effectiveness, and now coaches emerging executives and teams to elevate engagement.

    Topics she is versed in include:

    COVID19 has changed everything. Many jobs have evaporated in thin air. Yet, companies still need support. Learn from the Gig Income Guru how to find paying professional gigs (contract work). To prepare for this practical, hands-on session, participants should download and complete the GIG Assessment (Generating Ideas for Gigs) from www.tkcincorporated.com. This helpful tool will help them discover what they might offer in the marketplace. The session also highlights where to find profitable gigs.

      ABOUT THE SPEAKER

      Renee Emery is a transformational life coach and consultant who helps busy professionals manage the often overwhelming reality of integrating their personal and professional lives. Renée helps her clients regain a sense of balance and purpose by helping them get unstuck, take control and achieve their goals. She uses a multi-pronged approach to motivate and support her clients; helping them shift their mindset, realize their vision and take inspired action.

      After spending two decades in the corporate world as a supplier diversity inclusion professional, coaching small and diverse suppliers on doing business with large corporations, Renée opened her boutique coaching firm. Her background, combined with an avid interest in personal and spiritual development has made the move from corporate America to entrepreneurship a natural transition.
